"Hurry up Melvin! You have to finish everything before Thanksgiving!"
The stress was piling up along with the school work we were receiving.
Half the time I wanted to fall down and resort to grieving,
But I had to finish my Rutgers app, boy was that confusing!
Rutgers, Seton Hall, Ramapo and more,
That's just the beginning, when will this list end?
Is there an easy way around it, where is the back door?
Hit the wall of writer's block, how will I ever click send?
My college essay has to be the best piece I've ever written,
But everything distracted me, even Adam's soft fluffy kitten.
Somehow I put together a few lines but it was so rubbery like uncooked mutton.
So I scratched that away till the idea hit me all of a sudden.
I sat back and began to reminisce,
About when I was young, the days of the innocence.
The voyage I took half way around the world.
At the age of only 10 it was a story no one had ever heard.
So I sat down and the adventure flowed out of me.
The story of me and my friends climbing every coconut tree.
This was my best essay, sure to be a victory.
And after I receive my college acceptance, "I would like to thank the academy."

Congratulations on your acceptance at Rutgers! I really like your poem and I found myself laughing most of the time. Also, I liked your addition of 'Adam's soft fluffy kitten!'

ReplyDeleteIt's always good to hear that you're accepted to a college before Christmas. Anyway I can easily relate to this poem since I shared the same struggle as you did. However, we both got through it and it must feel good to be done now.
